Let the Packing Begin! A Photo Essay ~ Organizing a Spur of the Moment OCC Packing Party

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...here are 23,000 words for you to enjoy.

The 2013 Spur of the Moment Operation Christmas Child Packing Party in Pictures.

My youngest daughter set up a camera to automatically snap pictures every 2 to 3 minutes and she and my older daughter also took more pictures.  It has taken me quite some time to go thru them all and get them ready to share.  One reason for the extended length of time was I did not want to share any identifiable images of the children without their parent's permission--so I needed to work thru to find ones of their backs only or blur their sweet faces.  Enjoy your visit to our first
packing party.

They found a last minute donation of 48 tubes of toothpaste from our dentist
when they arrived at church.  Sarah quickly zipped them into
the hygiene bags before the kids arrived.
Another last minute donation--prize trinkets.
This was kept up by my husband and when the kids got to the end of the
line he told them they could each choose two to put in their boxes.
Apparently they had a ball choosing from these small trinkets when they
had thought the--one
of their favorite parts of packing.
My husband explained to each group a little about why we were packing
the boxes and to choose one item out of each box to pack.
The Boys:

My husband helped ensure the lids would fit.
The Girls:

My youngest daughter, Sarah, helping her girls pack.
My husband helped them put on their rubber bands and directed them
where to stack the full boxes.

The Men:
I love seeing the men involved.
My husband packed 2 to 4 year old boxes between the classes packing.
Setting up for Prayer:
After they got their rubber bands put on they stacked the boxes on the stage.
After the game circle was no longer needed the girls carried them all over
to the center of the game circle for prayer.  See images below.

With the help of the children's pastor the girls got them all stacked
within the game circle.  He shared a bit more about OCC and where
the boxes would be going and to whom.
All of the children gathered around the boxes for prayer.
Many images came thru of Elizabeth like this: a bit of a blurr:
Follow along with our family as I share our journey of The Spur of The Moment OCC Packing Party of 2013.

  2. Kristy, they said everyone, from the kids to the AWANA leaders all had a blast. And the kids were so proud of "their" own boxes--they really put themselves into them.
