Washcloth Frenzy & A Splurge for My Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

One of my goals this year was to pack more Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes (surprised?).  But I also wanted to increase the quality of my boxes.  I shared earlier that I have taken to entering blog giveaways to help "support my shoe boxing habit."  This is one way I hope to pay for better quality items.  Another is to take advantage of online discounts.

Kohl's has become a favorite store of mine to shop online with (I do not have a local Kohl's). I love that you can combine discount codes -- you can use two (one $ off $$ amount & one % off -- or combine either with a free shipping code).  When I
saw a coupon for $10 off $50 home I had to see if the washcloths were on sale.  They were!  And they offered a large variety of colors!  Here's how I did my deal:

• Started at Ebates (where I will get 6% back for shopping Kohl's that day--double what they normally give)
• Washcloths -- on sale for $3.99/6 instead of $9.99/6.
• Used $10 off $50 Home discount code (good only two days) -- My total was $51.87 for 13 packs
• Used a 20% off total order code (good only two days) -- 20% comes off AFTER $10

My total was $33.50 before shipping & tax (regular Kohl's retail price would have been $129.87).  A savings of almost 75%.  With shipping and tax my per washcloth price came out to about 50 cents each. That is quite high compared to Dollar General or Walmart's 18 packs for $4.00 (Walmart's 8 packs are $4 -- so the same price I got), but I like the quality of these and decided I'd splurge as I knew I was to receive $80 towards shoebox supplies next month.
