Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Stockpile Saturday ~ 12/12/2015

I decided maybe I should start a weekly blog post called "Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Stockpile Saturday" of what I've added to my stockpile lately via purchases, crafting, donations, etc.

I stopped by Office Max/Depot to pick up the battery deal ($0.01 after reward points) and due to another shoeboxer's suggestion, I checked for compasses & protractors in the normal clearance area-they didn't have prices on them, but an associate scanned them for me and they were $0.24 for the plastic ones and $0.42
for the metal compass.  Then I found more clearance in the teacher supply aisle-LOTS of pens and scissors (above my budget at the moment).  I needed some red pens for this upcoming year, and as $0.33 per 10 pack, so I picked up some.

My mom and sister also crocheted another 7 hats!

Spent from shoebox packing budget: $31.89 (I hope to get  $27.98 rewards back on the batteries, if not, I may return them)

Added to stockpile:
  • 32 AA batteries (we already have flashlights to go with them
  • 30 red pens
  • 2 compasses
  • 1 protacter
  • 7 crocheted hats
Check out this post to see why I shop year round:  Three Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes Packed for Under $7 Total.

  2. I am enjoying your Saturday Stockpile!! I am stockpiling items also! I have made 4 large totebags using your pattern and 6 small bags using your tea towel pattern, they are soo easy! Also, I have started collecting toothbrushes every week in my usual shopping, $1.00 at Walmart ('m in Ontario) they are the same brushes we use at home. :)

  4. My Stockpile is starting to grow also. A local dollar store had a clearance bin where I found some 50 cent deals: a 70 ft. clothesline (will be cut into smaller pcs & paired with wooden clothespins), a child size water bottle, and a couple of fake fur tote bags left over from Halloween. The bags are purple with no nasty Halloween scenes on them! Also have sewn 11 drawstring tote bags to put into shoe boxes. We pack at least 35 boxes each year, so starting early is essential!
